Jeep has taken the wraps off its new (2022) Commander SUV in Brazil.
The new Jeep Commander is the brand's newest 7-seater SUV and will be manufactured at the brand's facility in Brazil. It will be positioned above the brand's Compass offering.
The three-row SUV measures 4,769 mm in length, 1,859 mm in width and 1,682 mm in height. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2,794 mm.
The Commander borrows a lot of design cues from many of Jeep's larger models sold internationally. The new Jeep Commander features the brand's signature grille upfront, flanked on either side by sleek LED headlamp clusters. The LED daytime running lights are integrated with the fog lamps, positioned on the front bumpers.
Other design elements include squared wheel arches housing large 19-inch alloy wheels, flat roofline, roof rails, sleek LED tail lights, a chrome strip running across the width of the boot and a rather upright tailgate.
Inside, the new Jeep Commander is similar to the Compass. It comes packed with plenty of premium features and tech, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, premium leather and suede upholstery all around, wireless charging and plenty more.
The 2022 Jeep Commander will be offered in two trims - Limited & Overland. Both variants come with a choice of two engine options including a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 185 BHP / 270 Nm and a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel unit churning out 178 BHP / 380 Nm.
The petrol unit is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission powering just the front wheels. The diesel engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox, with 4x4 as standard.
Jeep will introduce the 7-seater SUV in India as well, although the India-spec model will be called 'Meridian'. The Jeep Meridian is expected to arrive in India sometime in early-2022.
Prices for the Jeep Commander in Brazil starts from BRL 199,990 (approx. Rs 28.22 lakh) and goes up all the way to BRL 279,990 (approx. Rs 39.5 lakh).
