2019 Chevrolet Camaro unveiled

Chevrolet has unveiled the 2019 Camaro. The car gets revised exteriors, a new infotainment system with navigation and a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine on the 1LE trim. It will be available in coupe and convertible body styles.

At the front, the car features a new fascia with hexagonal mesh grille, LED headlamps and a reshaped hood. The rear gets a bumper with hexagonal number plate housing, dual pod LED tail lamps, spoiler and twin dual-tipped exhaust nozzles. The lower variants get red tail light lenses, while the top spec trims come equipped with dark tinted ones. The company is also offering an RS package that adds a gloss black grille, chrome lower inserts, LED headlamps with LED lightbar, rear diffuser and 20-inch wheels. The car rides on 245/40 section front and 275/35 rear tyres.

Inside, the car gets all-black interiors with a 3-spoke, flat bottom steering wheel with integrated buttons, paddle shifts, circular AC vents and a 7-inch touchscreen. An 8.0-inch touchscreen running Infotainment 3 is available as an option. It also gets a rear view camera based IRVM to improve rear visibility, a collision warning system and a data recorder system.

Under the hood, the Camaro is available with a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 275 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. This engine is now available on the Turbo 1LE trim and is offered only with a 6-speed manual transmission. The 1LE trims comes equipped with larger front and rear stabiliser bars, tuned dampers, stiffer rear bushing along with cross-axis ball joints. The company claims that these changes improve the car's lateral stiffness. It also gets Recaro seats, multiple drive modes including Sport and Track mode, performance instrument readouts and shift lights amongst others. The 3.5-liter V6 engine, that makes 335 BHP and 385 Nm torque will be offered with a choice of 6-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission with launch control and line lock.

The company has also revealed the 2019 Camaro SS. It will be offered in two trims and in coupe and convertible body styles. It is powered by a 6.2-liter, V8 petrol engine that is good for 455 BHP and 617 Nm. The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox and gets Tour, Sport and Track modes along with custom launch control and line lock. Additionally, Chevrolet is offering 2 performance packages - 1SS and 2SS. These include features like Brembo six-piston monobloc brake calipers at front and four-piston calipers at the rear, electronic limited slip differential, dual mode exhaust, magnetic ride control, upgraded suspension, wider 20-inch rims shod in 285/30R20 front and 305/30R20 rear tyres amongst others. The performance packages are only offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. Chevrolet claims that this package will enable the car to corner at over 1Gs. Cosmetic changes on the SS include black front splitter, rear spoiler and hood wrap.
