2018 Suzuki Jimny spied undisguised

Images of the 2018 Suzuki Jimny first surfaced online back in August 2017. While the leaked images revealed the redesigned exterior and interior of the new Jimny in detail, latest spy images from an assembly line give us a first look at the actual production car.

The fourth-generation Jimny's exteriors seem to be inspired by the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. The front features a 5-slat grille finished in black with circular headlamps and turn signals. The car seen on the factory floor appears to be a lower variant since it doesn’t have fog lamps, or the black wheel arch extensions seen earlier.

In the second image, bodyshell is visible in an early stage of the assembly process. It has a black bumper with integrated tail lights already installed, as is the rear wiper. A slight recess on the rear door panel where the spare wheel will be bolted on can also be seen in the image.

The new Jimny will be offered as a 3-door and in multiple trim levels. Leaked images of the interior have indicated that the new model will be offered with a redesigned dashboard with a central touchscreen infotainment system, climate control and a three-spoke steering wheel.

The second-generation Jimny was sold as the Gypsy in India. It has been rumoured that the new Jimny might get a 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine with a choice of a manual or automatic transmission. A 5-door version could also be on cards, which might replace the Gypsy in India.
