2018 Honda Jazz facelift unveiled in Japan

Honda has unveiled the mid-life facelift for the Jazz hatchback in Japan. An official launch will take place sometime next month. Honda currently has no plans of bringing the facelifted model to India as the Jazz is just two years old here and is thus a fairly fresh product in the Indian context.

The Jazz, which is sold as the Honda Fit in some international markets, has been given some minor cosmetic updates as a part of the facelift. The front gets revised headlamp assemblies, a new grille and tweaked bumper with more prominent fog lamp housings. The Japan-spec model comes with LED illumination for the headlights and fog lights. The side profile is identical to that of the current model, with a new set of alloy wheels being the only difference. The rear is expected to come with a prominent roof mounted spoiler, tweaked taillights and a revised bumper layout.

The interior of the 2018 Jazz is expected to retain the current model's layout. However, the seat upholstery will be revised to feature a dual-tone scheme. The Japan-spec model is also likely to come with various advanced safety features, including pedestrian collision mitigation, traffic sign recognition, collision mitigation braking and lane-keep assist function.

No mechanical changes are expected to be made to the updated Jazz. Thus, it will likely continue to be on sale in Japan with three powertrain options - a 1.3-litre i-VTEC petrol, a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-VTEC + i-DCD petrol-electric hybrid setup.
