The third-generation Maruti Dzire has started reaching dealership stockyards. The car has already been unveiled to the media and is scheduled to be launched on May 16, 2017. This is the first time that the Dzire compact sedan will be launched in India prior to its hatch sibling - the Swift.
Built on the HEARTECT platform, the new Dzire gets some significant design changes. The front fascia features a wider grille with a thick chrome border, new headlamps with LED projectors and DRLs on the top-end variants and a new bumper with chrome accents below the fog lamp housings. The car has been given a more proportionate side profile in comparison to the outgoing model. It also features a new set of 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and LED lights in the tail lamp clusters.
On the inside, the Dzire retains the dual-tone cabin theme as the outgoing model, though the layout has been completely revamped. Maruti claims to have made the car more spacious, especially for the rear occupants. Major additions on the inside include a new flat-bottom steering wheel, rear AC vents and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.
Powering the new Dzire will be the same set of engines that are offered on the second gen model - a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder K-series petrol and a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder DDiS diesel. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT, with the latter being offered only from the V-trims upwards.
