2017 Honda City facelift launched at Rs. 8.50 lakh

Honda has launched the 2017 City facelift in India at prices starting from Rs. 8,49,990 for the petrol range and Rs. 10,75,990 for the diesel models (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). It is available in 5 variants: S, SV, V, VX and ZX, out of which the base S trim can be opted only with the petrol engine.

The City facelift gets some comprehensive design updates at the front, including a wider grille with a chrome bar in the middle, a redesigned bumper and new headlamp assemblies with LED DRLs as standard across the range. The ZX and VX models also get all LED headlamps and even feature larger 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. V, VX and ZX variants get auto-folding door mirrors. At the rear, the new City comes with a minutely tweaked bumper, reprofiled tail lights and a bootlid mounted spoiler that houses the LED high mounted stop lamp. The facelifted City is available in 5 colour options: White Orchid Pearl, Carnelian Red Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic and Alabaster Silver Metallic.

The dashboard design is identical to the outgoing model, though Honda has made multiple feature additions to the new City's cabin. The car gets a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which comes with satellite navigation, voice recognition, Bluetooth connectivity, 1.5 GB internal memory and a rear view camera. The system is also compatible with MirrorLink smartphone connectivity and WiFi support for internet.

The City facelift comes with dual airbags, ABS, EBD and ISOFIX mounts as standard across the range, while the top end model gets 6 airbags (front, side and curtain), auto headlights, headlamp auto-off timer and automatic wipers.

No powertrain related changes have been made to the car, as it continues to be powered by 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The i-VTEC petrol motor is rated at 117 BHP @ 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque @ 4,600 rpm. The City petrol can be opted with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox with paddle shifters. While the former delivers a company-claimed fuel economy of 17.4 km/l, the automatic variants are rated at 18 km/l.

The diesel models are powered by a 1.5-litre i-DTEC unit that churns out 99 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 1,750 rpm. The diesel models are available only with a 6-speed manual gearbox and have a company-claimed fuel economy figure of 25.6 km/l. Honda claims to have used new vibration absorption technologies with the diesel engine that might improve the overall NVH levels of the car.
