Spy photographers in Europe have snapped the 2016 Skoda Superb on test. The new sedan, based on Volkswagen's MQB platform is expected to get a 75 mm increase in wheelbase over the current model. Reports also suggest that the new model could see an increase in headroom, by playing with the seat placement, without raising the roof-line.
Though seen under heavy camouflage in the images, the new Superb will get a lot of design inputs from the 'VisionC' concept. Rumoured updates include the option of full LED headlamps and a plug-in hybrid variant. If Skoda does introduce a plug-in hybrid Superb, it will most likely source its power-train from the VW Passat GTE that was revealed earlier this year. Engine options on the new Superb are likely to include 2.0-litre TDI & TSI engines. Lower displacement variants such as a 1.6-litre TDI & 1.8-litre TSI could be offered as well.
The 2016 Skoda Superb is expected to make its debut in March 2015 at the Geneva motor show.
