2016 BMW 7-Series side profile spied

BMW hasn’t done the best job of hiding the design of the G11 7-Series. The car’s exterior was first spied in detail, followed by an image of the instrument cluster and steering wheel. A fresh spy shot has now surfaced and it showcases BMW’s rather flashy approach to the limousine’s design.

As seen in the image, the car has been generously draped in chrome. The front and rear bumpers get chrome inserts, and there’s a prominent chrome strip that runs along the side skirting. The window lining also gets a similar finish. The car’s body panels have been chiseled and it now looks slimmer, but though the design tangibly different, it is still quite familiar to the current model. Although the chrome does add a little attention grabbing vibe, the designers have evidently chosen to play it safe.

The car is expected to feature a lighter body structure that drops its weight by 100 - 130 kgs. The new 7-Series will also get BMW’s next-generation iDrive system, featuring a touchscreen infotainment interface with gesture recognition. The new 7-Series is expected to make its public debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September this year, with images and details making an online appearance ahead of the in-the-metal unveil.
