2015 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class officially revealed

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has been officially revealed at both, Auto Guangzhou and the Los Angeles Auto Show. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class measures 5453 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 3365 mm. This gives the limousine an additional 207 mm in length and 200 mm in wheelbase, over the S-Class LWB. The added space translates to better room specifically for the rear passengers.

Distinguishing features on the exterior are subtle. The rear door has been shortened by 66 mm and it now ends before the C-pillar. The C-pillar itself is adorned by the Maybach logo on both sides, while the boot lid sports the word "Maybach" to the left. The front grille has been moderately redesigned as well.

On the inside, both the left and right rear passengers get executive seats. The backrests on these seats can be adjusted separately while the footwell and seat reference points remain unaltered. The seat cushion can also be individually adjusted with inclination and horizontal adjustment combined.

The Maybach crest is embossed at multiple points on the upholstery as well. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is claimed to be the "quietest car in the world". The German car maker has optimized noise insulation and used additional sound deadening material to improve NVH levels.

The range topping Mercedes-Maybach S 600 is powered by a 6.0-litre, V12, bi-turbo engine that produces 530 bhp of power and 830 Nm of torque. The mid-range S 500 uses a 4.7-litre, V8 bi-turbo unit that makes 455 bhp of power and 700 Nm of torque. The S 400 4MATIC will be introduced later and the model will be aimed directly at the Chinese market. It is said to be powered by a 3.0-litre, V6 engine that makes 333 bhp of power and 480 Nm of torque.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class goes on sale in February 2015.
