2015 Ford Figo revealed as the Ka concept

Ford will replace its entry level Ka hatchback with the next generation Figo. The 2015 Figo has now been revealed in Brazil as the 2015 Ka concept. The concept car's design is pretty similar to the various renders that have surfaced onto the interweb over the past few months. Featuring Ford's new design language with the Aston Martin-like front grille to dominate proceedings, the 2015 Figo/Ka looks more modern than the now-dated looking Figo. The overall design is a blend of sharp lines and curves.

The Figo has been a major cog of Ford India's success in India, and the next-generation Figo will be launched here in the next year or two. The 2015 Figo will roll out from Ford's spanking new Sanand factory at Gujarat, currently under construction. Code-named the B562, Ford's 2015 Figo will be the first car to roll out from the Sanand facility. A high amount of localization will be a given as Ford needs to replace the well-priced Figo hatchback with the next-generation model.

The B562, which uses a modified platform of the current Figo (based on the Fiesta Mk5), will also spawn a compact sedan that will replace the Ford Classic model. Engine options on both the hatchback and compact sedan versions of the next-gen Figo are likely to include the 1 liter EcoBoost turbo petrol motor and the 1.5 liter TDCI turbo diesel motor. A five speed manual gearbox could be standard fare on both engines.

Scheduled to hit the Brazilian car market first, the 2015 Figo hatchback, which is likely to sell as the Ka in many international car markets, will be a global model in line with Ford's One-Ford manufacturing philosophy. Size-wise, the 2015 Ford Figo/Ka is likely to be similar to the current version. However, expect to see many new features as the competition (read Hyundai Grand i10 and i20) has well and truly moved on.
