2005 Hyundai Sonata V6 restoration: AC system cleaning and repairs

I ran a VIN check on the SpareKorea website using my car's chassis number.

BHPian ads295 recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

AC system cleaning is underway

The blower motor, cooling coils, and the evaporator core are all taken apart and cleaned. The condenser will be checked for leaks before being put back together. The AC was cooling decently well, so why do this? Because we can! The cabin air filter was missing altogether when the car arrived, so we're better off taking it apart when the interior is already open. This means I'll have to get the AC gas recharged as well.

AC recirculation vent is fixed

This is a follow-on from the pic from a few posts ago - the flap was repaired by my mechanic with strong glue. He's cut a piece exactly like the missing part that was eaten away by rodents. If this looks like jugaad, it is, albeit it's in an area that will perform exactly as it should post-repair.

Some more fun trivia

  • I ran a VIN check on the SpareKorea website using my car's chassis number. Some option codes are interesting: the car comes equipped with keyless entry - I saw an immobilizer computer as well, but I only have 2 standard keys. I suppose the original one is lost. Oh well. Hopefully, I'll be able to find a workaround.
  • Also quite interesting is an option [W10] "The Torrid Zone" - I have no idea what this means!
  • The car also has impact-sensing auto door unlock, an India-specific "High Ground Clearance" option, and ABS with TCS.
  • There are also many options I don't understand, for example [3931] and [3933]; Non-Speed Density Type and Speed Density Type. These are methods to calculate engine fuelling using intake airflow measurements, but usually, an engine has either a Mass Air Flow sensor (speed-density method) or a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor (Alpha-N method). Why are there codes for both speed-density and non-speed density, I wonder...

Attaching the VIN report with this post just for kicks
