1000 km trip to Guruvayur from Bangalore in my Jeep Compass Model S AT

The road diversions and heavier than expected traffic did slow the JC a bit, but overall it performed very well and also returned an average of 15+ kmpl.

Jeep Compass life - Trip to Guruvayur and back from Bangalore

Last week, I did a 1000 Km trip from Bangalore to Guruvayur via Coimbatore, Palakkad and Trichur. The road diversions and heavier than expected traffic did slow the JC a bit, but overall it performed very well and also returned an average of 15+ kmpl, which I believe is commendable for a heavy 2L Diesel engine. I did not drive sedately in some stretches with speeds constantly over 100/110 kmph!

I also had to do some mud road driving and gentle off roading as the trucks were like stuck matchboxes on some of the ghat sections, near Salem and Krishnagiri, occupying the entire tarmac and driving at a constant slow speed, making overtakes possible only on the left side over the mud road section! No hassles and JC passed these tests with a smile. In Kerala on some non NH stretches, the roads were either bumpy or narrow and again I was glad I had not taken a longer sedan or anything with a lower GC as it would have scraped. The flap in the front did scrape over a few badly designed roads as there was quite a difference in the height between two sections of roads, but overall it held well and has not broken!

Sharing some pics of the famous Sri Krishna temple of Guruvayur, the Vadakkanathan Shiva temple at Trichur and the DWayfarer resort at Erode where we halted on the way back. Got the JC cleaned after the trip as it had gotten quite muddy inside and out!
