Volvo India launches facelifted S60 sedan and XC60 crossover

Volvo India has launched facelifted versions of the S60 sedan and the XC60 crossover. The cars continue to be imported into India through the completely built unit (CBU) route, as is the case with every single Volvo car sold in the Indian market. Both cars are available in three variants each. Keeping Indian luxury car buyers' preference for diesel engined cars in mind, Volvo has lined up the S60 and XC60 in diesel-only guise.

The turbo diesel engines on offer are the D4 and D5 units. Both engines are five cylinder units with different displacements. The 2 liter D4 motor outputs 163 Bhp-400 Nm while the 2.4 liter D5 motor outputs 215 Bhp-420 Nm. The engines are mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox that gets paddle shifters. The engines and gearbox are common to both the S60 and XC60 models. While the S60 is front wheel driven, the XC60 comes with an all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring. 

While the S60 and XC60 remain unchanged mechanically, both cars see changes in terms of the design and features. The following represent the various cosmetic exterior changes on the 2014 S60:

• New headlamps
• Revised grille with horizontal slats
• New front bumper with airdams
• New exhaust muffler tips
• LED Daytime running lamps and tail lamp guides

The 2014 Volvo XC60 Facelift comes with all the cosmetic exterior changes that the S60 features, and adds the following styling elements:

• Reprofiled rear bumper
• New bonnet
• Single body-coloured paint shade across the car's exterior

On the inside, both cars get the following new features:

• TFT instrumentation cluster with three modes
• Revised leather seats
• 3 spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters
• Laser assisted city-safety automatic braking that now works up to 50 Kph
• Revamped Sensus infotainment system
