The Volkswagen Ameo was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo and bookings for the car opened on May 12. Now, Volkswagen has revealed the variants and features of the car.
The Ameo will come with two engine options -1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine and 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel power plant. The petrol engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission while the diesel engine will have an option of 5-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
Like other Volkswagen cars, the Ameo will be offered in three variants - Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. While all variants will get halogen headlamps with a black finish, dual-beam headlamps will be available only on the Comfortline and Highline variants. The Highline variant will also get chrome appliques on the air dam and door handles, and a set of four alloy wheels.
The Trendline variant will come with a black interior theme, while the other two variants will get a dual-tone (black and beige) interior theme. The Comfortline and Highline variant will get ambient lighting and cooled glove boxes. The Highline variant will also come with brushed aluminium inserts on the centre console, chrome accents, a leather-wrapped gear knob and a leather wrapped steering wheel with chrome accents and piano black finish.
Safety features such as ABS, dual front airbags, and electronic engine immobiliser will be standard across all variants. The Comfortline and Highline variants will also get Electronic Stabilisation Programme and hill hold control (on 1.5-litre, diesel with 7-speed DSG transmission), front fog lamps and anti-pinch power windows (front and rear). Auto-dimming IRVM and rear de-fogger will be available on the Highline variant.
Other features that will be available as a part of standard equipment across all variants include a boot light, electric power steering with tilt and telescopic adjustment, and a lane change indicator. The Comfortline and Highline variants will get cruise control, height adjustable driver's seat, electrically adjustable ORVMs, power windows with one touch operation for front and rear, key remote operation of windows and central locking and speed sensing auto door locks. The features that will be exclusively available on the Highline variant include rain-sensing wipers, reverse parking camera and sensors, front centre armrest, rear AC vents, automatic air-conditioning and electrically foldable ORVMs.
The Highline variant gets a touchscreen infotainment system, MirrorLink, steering-mounted controls for audio and telephony and voice commands. The Comfortline and Highline variants will come with USB, Aux and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Ameo will be available in five colours - blue silk, reflex silver, toffee brown, candy white and carbon steel.
