Vikram Pawah exits Harley Davidson as MD, might move to BMW

Vikram Pawah has stepped down as the Managing Director of Harley-Davidson India. He took charge of the MD position in September 2015, replacing Harley-Davidson India's first MD - Anoop Prakash. Pawah has thus been leading the motorcycle manufacturer's Indian arm for just over one year, before making his exit on 31st December 2016.

Vikram Pawah, having an experience of around 24 years, has worked with brands like Jay Engineering Works Ltd. (manufacturer of Usha fans) and Fun Foods India Ltd. Before joining HD India as MD, Pawah had also worked with Honda Car India Ltd. as the Assistant Vice President and Operating Head-Sales.

Harley-Davidson India has officially confirmed Pawah's exit from the company. The bike maker is still looking for a suitable candidate for the vacant MD position. Meanwhile, Marc McAllister - VP and MD of International Sales Markets and Harley-Davidson, has been assigned the additional responsibility of overlooking the Indian arm's operations.

Media reports suggest that Vikram Pawah will be joining BMW India and will be heading the German automaker's Indian arm. BMW has been suffering from a dropping sales graph and has slipped to the third position in the Indian luxury car market, behind German rivals Mercedes-Benz and Audi. As a result, the company has been scouting for a new Head for its Indian arm. If Pawah does join BMW, he will be leading the company's cars and motorcycles (BMW Motorrad) businesses.
