The upcoming compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki, codenamed YBA, has been spotted once again.
The image put up by gaadiwaadi.com shows the sub-4 metre vehicle wearing heavy camouflage. The design of the car bears resemblance to the Suzuki iV-4 concept, which was showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013. The greenhouse of the SUV looks remarkably similar to that of other Maruti models such as the Swift hatchback and the XA-Alpha concept, which was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo.
The image suggests that the YBA's styling will be toned down compared to that of the iv-4. Horizontal slats, like those on the 2015 Vitara, will replace the vertical ones seen on the concept's grille.
The YBA is likely to use engines from Maruti's current range. However, according to some media reports the car is likely to be powered by a new Fiat-sourced 1.5-litre diesel engine with more than 100 bhp. This unit is believed to be a downsized version of the 1.6-litre JTD engine. Other reports claim that the car will get the proven 1.3-litre, DDiS diesel engine with 90 bhp that does duty in the Ertiga and Ciaz.
Maruti could also give the YBA Suzuki's AllGrip all-wheel drive system. The car could be debuted at the 2016 Auto Expo. It will slot below the upcoming SX4- S-Cross crossover in Maruti's line-up and will be pitted against the Ford EcoSport.
