While we still await the launch of the Toyota Belta, another re-badged Maruti Suzuki has been spotted. The car is based on the WagonR hatchback.
The re-badged Maruti WagonR was caught testing in Gurgaon. It seems Toyota has made quite a few changes to the exterior of the car. For starters, it has a completely new front fascia featuring a slim grille flanked by what appear to be turn indicators. The main headlamp clusters are positioned on the front bumper, which has also been redesigned.
At the rear, the car gets smoked tail lamp clusters and a reworked bumper that has vertical reflectors on either end.
The Maruti WagonR is offered with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 67 BHP and 90 NM, while the 1.2-litre unit makes 82 BHP and 113 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT.
Just like other badge-engineered models in Toyota's line-up, the powertrains will be shared with Maruti Suzuki. However, Toyota might stick with the more powerful 1.2-litre motor.
