Toyota Camry fans start a petition to bring back the V6 engine

On the new-gen Toyota Camry, this V6 engine has been replaced with a hybrid powertrain.

oyota introduced the latest iteration of its Camry last year. However, the carmaker decided to discontinue the V6 engine, replacing it with a smaller hybrid powertrain. This, according to reports, hasn't gone down well with fans of the premium sedan.

As per reports, fans of the Camry have started a new petition demanding Toyota to bring back the V6 engine on the sedan's MY2026 version. The petition was started by Andrew Huynh, who stated, "The Camry Hybrid can stay, but the gasoline-powered mid-size Camry for the 9th generation should bring back the V6 engine that Camry owners should expect." The petition is said to have already amassed modest support.

The previous-gen Toyota Camry was offered with a 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 301 BHP and 362 Nm. Toyota claimed a 0-60 mph (0-98 km/h) time of 5.8 seconds, which is quite impressive for an otherwise unassuming sedan.

On the new-gen Toyota Camry, this V6 engine has been replaced with a hybrid powertrain producing 225 BHP for the FWD variants and 232 BHP for the AWD trims. The new Camry hybrid also gets an eCVT instead of an 8-speed automatic.

Whether or not Toyota responds to the petition remains to be seen.
