Thailand: Next-gen Toyota Fortuner caught without camouflage

The next-generation Toyota Fortuner has been caught without any disguise in Thailand.

The new Fortuner sports a more modern design than the current model. The front end sees a pair of slim, wraparound headlamps, a V-shaped grille with horizontal chrome slats a modern front bumper and round fog lamps with chrome bezels. The shoulder line of the car rises sharply just before the C-pillar before sloping downwards. The door mirrors have integrated turn indicators and the door handles are finished in chrome. At the rear, the Fortuner has slim tail lamps with a thick chrome strip running between them, a redesigned bumper and a roof-mounted spoiler. Other features include roof rails, blackened B, C and D-pillars and 18-inch alloy wheels. The spare tyre is located below the body.

On the inside, the Fortuner gets a redesigned black dashboard with faux wood and silver inserts, a multifunction steering wheel, instrument cluster with chrome surrounds for the dials and modern infotainment system. The seats are draped in beige leather upholstery. The Fortuner will be able to carry seven people.

The Fortuner will be powered by diesel engines from Toyota’s new GD family of power plants including a 2.4-litre unit capable of putting out 160 BHP and 400 Nm of torque an a 2.8-litre power plant developing 177 BHP and 450 Nm of torque. Transmission options include 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. The vehicle will be available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options.

Toyota will officially reveal the Fortuner on July 17. The SUV is likely to make its India debut in February 2016 at the next edition of the Auto Expo.
