Tesla has announced the achievement of a new production milestone of 5 million (50 lakh) electric vehicles.
As per reports, the milestone was achieved 20 years after the carmaker was incorporated, back in 2003. Tesla's first offering was the Roadster in 2008, and while that car is no longer on sale, the company currently has four models in its lineup: Model 3, Model X, Model S and Model Y. Tesla is also readying the Cybertruck, which is expected to go on sale soon, while also having the Semi truck in its CV lineup.
The carmaker achieved its 1 million production milestone in 2020 and has since increased the production numbers rapidly.
Tesla has four manufacturing plants globally, two of which, are in the USA in Fremont, California & Austin, Texas. The third plant is in Shanghai, China, and the final one is in Berlin, Germany. The 5 millionth model produced was a Pearl White Model 3 Highland, which was manufactured in its Shanghai plant.
Apart from the EV production milestone, Tesla recently announced that it had installed its 50,000th Supercharger. The milestone Supercharger was installed in Roseville, California, and was painted in a distinctive shade of Red, differentiating it from the conventional two-tone white and red colour scheme.
