Some variants of the recently launched Tata Zest compact sedan, are believed to have a waiting period of up to 6 months. A supply constraint from some of the vendors and an inadequate production capacity are the main causes for this long waiting period.
Tata Motors has revealed that the demand for the Zest is much higher than the supply and it is not producing sufficient number of cars. To address this issue, the company is increasing production of the car. Tata Motors has also stated that the demand for the petrol variant is stronger. The company has sold more than 10,000 units of the Zest since its launch in August this year.
October saw the Zest move ahead of the Honda Amaze in terms of sales. With 3,524 units sold in the month against 3,482 of the Amaze, the Zest has moved into third position behind the Maruti Suzuki Dzire (17,950) and Hyundai Xcent (4,629) in the list of sub-4 metre sedans in the country.
