Tata Motors has unveiled the all-new Safari. The SUV will be available in 6 variants - XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ and XZ+.
The new Safari is based on the OMEGARC platform that is shared with the Harrier. It features Tata's latest Impact 2.0 design. The car gets a familiar front fascia which is identical to the Harrier, however it gets a few embellishments like chrome inserts on the grille that help differentiate it. The grille is flanked by slim LED daytime running lights, while the main headlamp clusters are positioned lower down on the front bumper. It gets projector headlamps as standard, while 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels are offered on higher variants.
On the inside, the new Safari gets Oyster White seat upholstery and Ashwood trim on the dashboard. The design of the dashboard itself has been carried over from the Harrier. It features an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SUV will be offered in 6 and 7-seat configurations. The 6-seat version gets separate captain seats in the second row.
The new Safari is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 170 BHP and 350 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It has three drive modes - Eco, Sport and City. The car also gets Terrain Response modes - Normal, Wet and Rough.
