Tata Hexa to come with 4 driving modes

Earlier this week, the specifications of the upcoming Tata Hexa were revealed. The car will have a 2.2-litre diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Hexa will also have 'Super Drive Modes' feature which, as the name suggests, will allow the driver to switch between four different driving modes - Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road.

Tata Motors claims that the different modes alter the vehicle's engine performance, electronic stability program (ESP), instrument cluster display and the ambient lighting. This can be done by turning a rotary knob located on the centre console.

  • Auto Mode: This mode provides traction in any conditions and the control systems are activated depending on the road conditions. The car would focus on providing stability and traction at all times.
  • Comfort Mode: This mode can be used for long journeys and highway drives. The car will provide engine power output which is suitable for cruising.
  • Dynamic Mode: For the times when the vehicle needs to be pushed hard, this mode needs to be selected. The ESP is activated a little later.
  • Rough Road Mode: While driving off-road, this mode can be selected which provides enhanced braking as compared to other driving modes. It causes wheel lockups in a controlled manner for the slippery conditions.

In addition to the driving modes, the automatic transmission variant will also be equipped with racecar mapping for increasing the performance.
