Tata Motors will start accepting bookings for the Hexa SUV from November 1, 2016. This information was revealed by the company during an official presentation to the media last night. The Indian automaker has also confirmed that the launch of the Hexa has been scheduled for January 2017. Various features of the SUV have been revealed as well.
Powering the Hexa will be a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder VARICOR 400 diesel engine that churns out 154 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. The car will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It will come in 4x2 and 4x4 setups, with the latter getting a torque on demand feature. There will also be multiple driving modes on offer with the manual transmission variants - Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road. The company claims to have tested the Hexa for over 8,00,000 kilometers, across 3 continents.
Some insider information from company sources leaked a few days ago has already revealed various features of the Hexa. Now, the company has confirmed a few more details about the SUV.
The Hexa will be offered in both six-seater and seven-seater versions. The six-seater version gets captain seats in the second row, while the 7-seater variant gets a bench split in a 60:40 ratio. The driver seat comes with eight-way adjustment. The third row seats can be tumbled down in a 50:50 split arrangement. Each row of seats gets its independent set of AC vents as well. The Hexa features a dual-zone climate control system.
The infotainment system is developed by Harman and is connected to a total of 10 speakers. It supports AUX, USB, and Bluetooth inputs. The Hexa also gets smartphone-based navigation, similar to the system found on the Tiago.
