Tata Altroz & Altroz EV unveiled at Geneva

Tata Motors has unveiled its Altroz premium hatchback at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

The Tata Altroz is based on a new scalable architecture called the Agile, Light, Flexible and Advanced (ALFA) platform. Its styling is based on Tata's Impact Design 2.0 philosophy. The car features a slim grille and headlamps with triangular fog lamp pods placed just below the main headlamp clusters. It has flared wheel arches and prominent character lines on the sides, while the rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillars.

At the rear, the Altroz features wraparound tail lamps with gloss black trim in the centre. Like the Tiago, the Altroz too has aero elements on both sides of the rear windshield. Inside, the car comes with a black dashboard with a floating touchscreen infotainment system, 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer similar to the one on the Harrier. The air-conditioning vents are painted in the same colour as the exterior.

The Tata Altroz is expected to be powered by 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engines from the Tiago and Nexon. It could also be offered with the 1.5-litre diesel unit that powers the Nexon.

Tata has also showcased an all-electric version of the Altroz at Geneva. The Altroz EV has minor exterior and interior changes but details about the powertrain are yet to be released.
