Skoda's new 7-seater SUV to be named the Kodiak?

Skoda has been developing a new SUV to slide in above the Yeti. Known as the "Snowman" until now, the SUV is expected to be christened as the Kodiak according to a report by Germany's Auto Bild. The new model is expected to offer enough seating space for 7 occupants and has thus far been spied testing under a Skoda Yeti body.

The new SUV will be based on Volkswagen's MQB architecture and is expected to be offered with front-wheel drive as standard with optional all-wheel drive. Powertrain options are expected to include a host of petrol and diesel engines displacing between 1.4L and 2.0L with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG.

It is believed that the new Kodiak will make its public debut at the Paris motor show in October 2016. The SUV will be manufactured at the company's Kvasiny factory in the Czech Republic and given the rising popularity of utility vehicles in premium segments, Skoda may consider bringing it to India as well, though it will have to be a CKD at the least.
