According to Zac Hollis, MD, Skoda India, the Karoq is likely to be launched in the first half of the next year, while a new mid-size SUV, which is part of the India 2.0 project is expected to debut by mid-2021.
The Skoda Karoq is based on the MQB platform. It is expected to be positioned below the Kodiaq. The SUV features a typical Skoda grille with a chrome frame. It has rectangular wraparound headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights and trapezoidal fog lamps. At the rear, the Karoq features wraparound tail lights and a dual-tone bumper with integrated reflectors.
In India, the Karoq could be offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a choice of 1.6-litre or 2.0-litre diesel engines. Transmission options might include a DSG dual-clutch gearbox.
Skoda hasn't revealed any details of its upcoming mid-size SUV. The car is being developed as part of the VW Group's India 2.0 strategy. It could be positioned below the Karoq.
