Rumour: Toyota Fortuner Legender to be launched in early 2021

The Fortuner Legender could get new features and a more powerful 2.8L diesel engine.

According to a media report, Toyota is gearing up to launch the Fortuner Legender in India sometime in early 2021. It will be sold alongside the Fortuner facelift.

The Fortuner Legender is likely to be positioned above the regular model. The SUV is expected to get new features, a more powerful 2.8-litre diesel engine and additional off-road kit.

In terms of looks, the Fortuner Legender gets a sharper looking front fascia with slim LED headlights. The gloss black treatment adds to the sporty appeal of the vehicle. At the rear, it gets gloss black tailgate garnish and a redesigned bumper with more gloss black treatment. The SUV rides on 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

On the inside, the Fortuner Legender comes with a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit that has Apple CarPlay connectivity. It gets wireless charging, 360-degree camera, lane departure warning system, radar guided cruise control and a wheel orientation sensor.

The SUV is likely to be powered by an upgraded 2.8-litre diesel engine producing 201 BHP and 500 Nm. Peak torque is available from 1,600-2,800 rpm thanks to a variable nozzle turbocharger which is controlled by an electric motor. The same engine could be offered in regular Fortuner in the near future.
