Rumour: Honda CR-V to get 118 BHP diesel engine

According to a media report, Honda is likely to offer the new CR-V with a de-tuned diesel engine with a single turbocharger instead of the twin-turbo diesel offered in Southeast Asian markets. 

The 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine is said to produce 118 BHP and a maximum torque of 300 Nm compared to the twin-turbo unit which develops 158 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. It will be mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, however with shorter ratios. With a de-tuned engine and revised gearbox, the India-spec CR-V is claimed to reach 100 km/h in 11.2 seconds.

Meanwhile, test production of the CR-V is already underway and three units have been built before series production could commence. The new CR-V is expected to be launched around October 2018.
