Honda Cars India has reportedly confirmed that the Accord premium sedan will be launched in India in the month of October 2016. The new Honda Accord was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.
The Accord will be offered with a Hybrid as well as a petrol powertrain. The Accord Hybrid will be powered by a 2.0-litre iVTEC petrol engine, which is coupled with two electric motors driven by a 1.3 kW lithium ion battery. This powering setup is linked to an e-CVT gearbox. Cumulatively, this powertrain develops 196 BHP, of which 141 BHP comes out of the gasoline mill. The total torque output will likely be around 300 Nm. The petrol variant will most probably be equipped with a 2.4-litre engine rated at 185 BHP. A 6-speed manual and a CVT unit will likely be the transmission options on offer for the petrol variant.
The 2016 Accord has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. Once launched, the new Accord will compete against the likes of the Toyota Camry, Skoda Superb, and upcoming Volkswagen Passat.
