Rumour: Ducati open to develop small-capacity e-motorcycles

The bikes need to be light and offer 250 km of range, otherwise it doesn't make sense.

According to a media report, Marco Biondi, Sales & Marketing Head, Ducati APAC, has stated that the brand might be interested in certain types of EVs.

When asked if Ducati might enter a lower capacity segment with electric vehicles, Biondi mentioned in the affirmative that it might be the case.

Reports suggest that Ducati feels there might be a market for 35 kW (47.5 BHP) and even 11 kW (15 BHP) electric motorcycles. However, Ducati introducing such low-capacity motorcycles isn't going to happen anytime soon as it depends on how quickly battery density levels can increase.

As per reports, if Ducati does look into these segments, it will maintain its premium positioning and the ethos of its products. Biondi also stated that the bikes need to be light and offer 250 km of range, otherwise it doesn't make sense. Also, he mentioned that though the company have it in the plans, if and when this actually happens is still unclear.
