Rumour: 2016 Honda Accord India launch on October 30

The 2016 Honda Accord India launch has reportedly been scheduled for October 30, 2016. Honda had showcased the 2016 Accord at this year's Auto Expo, while it has also been spotted testing on public roads. Media reports suggest that select Honda dealerships in Delhi have even started accepting bookings for a sum of Rs. 51,000.

The ninth-gen Accord will be offered in India with a petrol, and a hybrid powertrain. The Accord petrol will likely be powered by a 2.4-litre engine that is good for 185 BHP. Meanwhile, the hybrid powertrain will employ a 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol engine working in tandem with two electric motors that are driven by a 1.3 kW lithium ion battery which can develop 196 BHP. Transmission options will include a CVT, while a manual gearbox might also be offered.

Honda will place the 2016 Accord to compete against the Toyota Camry, Skoda Superb, and upcoming Volkswagen Passat.
