Royal Enfield Himalayan spied up close!

Royal Enfield’s global ambitions are growing and so is the brand's model range. The Himalayan adventure tourer is one of the most highly anticipated models, with spy shots confirming a new engine and chassis already. Now, the Himalayan’s instrument cluster has been spied up close as well, giving us a better look at the bike’s cockpit.

The cluster consists of 4 analogue dials. The largest dial is the speedometer (marked till 160 km/h) with mph and kph markings, along with an integrated digital display for the trip meter, odometer and a digital clock. A smaller dial is used for the tachometer, while an analogue fuel gauge (let's hope this one is more accurate!) and altimeter sit together. This is a cluster design we haven’t seen on a Royal Enfield before and it’s evident that India isn’t the only market the Himalayan is targeting, though it could be a very lucrative one, considering the lack of affordable adventure tourers.

The spy shots also confirm that the Himalayan will use an engine with an oil-cooler, and the engine is expected to adopt an overhead cam layout over the old school pushrods we’ve seen in Royal Enfields. The bike is believed to be powered by a 410cc, single-cylinder engine, which is likely to produce just short of 30 BHP and 32 Nm of torque.

The bike is expected to be priced under Rs. 2 lakh. Reports suggest that Royal Enfield will launch the Himalayan at the 2016 Delhi auto expo, but it still isn’t confirmed if Royal Enfield is even participating in the event as apart from Royal Enfield, even brands like Bajaj and Harley-Davidson may skip the biennial expo.
