Renault is reportedly working on two mass-market EVs for the Indian market. These will be based on the Kiger and Triber, with the former expected to be launched in 2027.
According to media reports, Renault is developing the Kiger EV under the codename 'Project RJ2K5'. It is said to be based on a dedicated EV platform. The electric SUV could go into production in the second half of 2026 and is expected to go on sale around March 2027.
Reports suggest that the Kiger EV will be aimed at mass-market buyers, with a target price of under Rs 15 lakh. An electric version of the Triber is also said to be on the cards.
Renault is reportedly in talks with Tata AutoComp to source batteries for its upcoming EVs. The company is looking to source components locally in order to keep costs down.
Apart from the two EVs, Renault is also planning to launch the updated versions of the Kiger and Triber. Next year, we will witness the return of the Duster, followed by its 7-seater version, the Bigster.
