Prague: Skoda reveals prototype of Kodiaq SUV

Skoda has revealed a partially disguised prototype of its upcoming SUV at an event in Prague. This is the production version of the VisionS concept, which was unveiled at Geneva earlier this year (click here to read report).

The SUV is based on Volkswagen's MQB platform and positioned above the Yeti in Skoda's SUV line-up. Skoda has codenamed it the A-Plus and the final name is yet to be announced. There are rumours that the vehicle will be called "Kodiaq" when it goes on sale in global markets later this year. The car will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, which is scheduled to be held in October.

While the front and rear of the car have been camouflaged, it is easy to see that many of the design elements have been carried over from the concept. Some of the features seen on the car include a wide grille, LED daytime running lights, secondary lights under the headlamps and LED tail lamps. The alloy wheels on the production version are more conventional than the ones seen on the concept.

The car is expected to come in 5 & 7-seater configurations. It is also likely to get a 12-inch digital instrument panel and a vertically aligned 8-inch screen in the center console.

The Skoda Kodiaq is expected to be launched in India in 2017.
