Piaggio has launched the Ape Xtra DLX in India at Rs. 1.74 Lakh (Ex-Maharashtra). The three-wheeler is powered by a single pot, air cooled, naturally aspirated diesel engine that displaces 436cc. Maximum power output stands at 7.3 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 18 Nm of torque @ 2,200-2,400 rpm. Transmission duties are carried out by a 5 speed (4F+R) manual gearbox. Claimed fuel economy comes in at around 36 km/l.
Length x width x height x wheelbase dimensions come in at 2,940 mm x 1,465 mm x 1,840 x 1,920 mm while the ground clearance is a healthy 240 mm. The kerb weight is 420 kgs, while the gross vehicle weight is 725 kgs.Â
The Ape Xtra DLX features a large amount of interior space for passengers and storage alike. Piaggio says, the three wheeler features a high strength hood and body, along with a high life-less fatigue clutch for long term operation. The vehicle also gets new headlamps and a new dashboard layout.
