Nissan Sunny, now with leather seats, touchscreen audio etc.

Nissan launches a special edition of the Sunny in India.

The newest variant gets leather seats, a Kenwood double-din touchscreen audio system (with DVD, bluetooth & USB), rear parking camera, rear spoiler and a dash of chrome. These features are over & above the XV range's gizmos that include pure keyless entry, engine start / stop button and electric folding mirrors. The Sunny special edition carries an ex-showroom Delhi price of Rs. 8.60 lakh (petrol) and Rs. 9.68 lakh (diesel).

The special ed adds about Rs. 55,000 to the price of the Sunny XV. While this amount might seem reasonable for leather seats, a double-din head unit, reversing camera & spoiler, it is important to note that the Sunny XV is priced on the higher side to begin with. As a result, the Sunny's special edition is priced in the vicinity of the Skoda Rapid & VW Vento (top variants) which offer more powerful engines, superior handling and better overall quality. Of course, the Sunny retains its advantage in terms of enormous rear legroom, soft low-speed ride quality, long-term reliability and an impressive feature list.

The Sunny's market performance has been lukewarm over the last 6 months, with a monthly sales average of 1,904 units.
