According to a media report, the next-generation Volvo V40 could rival SUVs like the BMW X2, Audi Q2 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA.
The report suggests that customer trends and the need for electrification would mean that the V40 can no longer remain a hatchback. Instead, it has to grow in size and become a cross between a hatchback and an SUV, like the Mercedes-Benz GLA.
The next-gen V40 is expected to be launched in the next two to three years and could come with an all-electric variant.
The report also suggests that Volvo will not build smaller cars that would sit below the 40 range.
