As the Royal Enfield Himalayan's official reveal gets closer with each day, the spy shots get clearer and more descriptive. The Himalayan has now been spotted in what appears to be its near production-ready form.
On first impressions, the only thing that looks familiarly Royal Enfield is the round headlight, along with the familiar handlebar and switchgear. Apart from these parts, the bike appears to have been designed from scratch. Going by the image, the bike gets steel braided lines for the front disc brake, a silver finish sump guard, crash protectors for the engine, an additional guard for the tank that shares its mount with the headlamp cluster and a functional transparent windshield for better windblast protection.
The Himalayan has a tall seating position, split seats, hard box panniers (most likely an accessory), while the swingarm is angled downward, indicating that the rear monoshock suspension will offer a good amount of travel.
The Himalayan is powered by an entirely new oil cooled engine that is believed to displace around 410cc. The new engine is expected to offer better NVH levels than the current UCE range which is still prone to violent vibrations at highway speeds. The Himalayan will target export markets to a very large extent, which is why it being tested quite extensively.
