I am looking at "reliability" as a major factor before buying. The pandemic exposed some faultiness. A relative had a VW Vento and was facing some clutch (I think DSG) related issue, which seemed to take forever to resolve. I think it took more than 3 - 4 months for the issue to get sorted, during which the car was unused.
I was very keen on buying a Renault Duster, but a neighbour had a terrible experiences with the maintenance and had to sell it off. That set my alarm bells ringing because the last thing I need are some serious running costs.
I then started thinking much deeply about any or possible supply chain or other disruptions.
Question I have is: which car to choose from a "reliability" perspective? I am keen on having as much hassle free experience as possible.
I am looking at the following considerations too:
Here's what BHPian jigar had to say on the matter:
Only car that comes to my mind looking at your checklist is MS Ertiga or XL6.
- It offers the reliability of Maruti Suzuki after sales, spares are not that expensive.
- Ingress and egress is easy.
- Decent fuel economy with smart hybrid.
The only downside is the old 4 speed torque converter.
Here's what BHPian CEF_Beasts had to say on the matter:
If reliability is top priority then check out the Toyota Urban Cruiser (or MS Vitara Brezza) the 4-speed AT is decent. The Yaris CVT, City V CVT or Jazz CVT are the other options.
Here's what BHPian Vinod_nair had to say on the matter:
I'll be 61 this month, love driving, presently on a 400+ km trip (with our pet Tipsy) to Prayagraj in my Nexon AMT. I easily do this every 2/3 months in about 3.5 hours (slow traffic due to the 6 lane expansion).
No issues and nil fatigue.
Let the senior citizens do enough TD's together and then shortlist.
PS: my other car is a Nano XTA (AMT)
