Maruti plans separate sales channel for cab operators

According to a media report, Maruti is expected to launch a separate sales channel to focus on the cab aggregator market that will offer sales, service, insurance and finance solutions to fleet operators. The plan is likely to involve re-branding of existing dealerships selling the Super Carry mini truck and moving sales operations of the Dzire Tour to these retail outlets. Currently, there are 190 dealerships offering the Super Carry in 159 cities. Thus, the Dzire Tour might also get featured on Maruti's CV website in the near future.

The Dzire Tour is based on the previous-generation Dzire compact sedan and is offered exclusively to fleet operators. At present, a dedicated team handles retail operations of the Dzire Tour. Soon, Maruti plans to introduce a CNG variant that will be sold alongside the diesel version.

The Super Carry mini truck is offered in two variants - diesel and CNG. Its kerb weight is 860 kg and has a payload capacity of 740 kg. The diesel version is powered by a 796 cc, direct-injection diesel engine that produces 32 BHP @ 3,500 rpm and 75 Nm of torque @ 2,000 rpm. The CNG variant uses a 1.2-litre, fuel-injected petrol engine that delivers 64 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 85 Nm @ 3,000 rpm. Both versions come equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
