Maruti Dzire Tour S gets factory-fitted speed governor

The shared images indicate that Maruti Suzuki is offering factory-fitted speed governors on the new Dzire Tour S. The cars come with a sticker pasted on the passenger side door panel stating that the top speed of the vehicle is limited to 80 km/h.

In 2017, the government made it mandatory for taxi operators to install speed governors in their cabs. The decision was taken in the wake of a Supreme Court notification from 2002 and 2009 regarding limiting the speed of commercial vehicles in the country. The move is aimed at reducing road accidents caused due over-speeding.

Taxi unions across the country criticized the government's decision initially and had even threatened to launch a protest. But now, it seems like cab operators have accepted the decision after an amendment was made to the Central Motor Vehicle Rules.
