Maintaining my Honda CBR650R: Important tasks for peace of mind

Though these changes made a minuscule difference to the ride, they were important to keep the motorcycle in good shape.

BHPian vinbex recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Got some major work done on the CBR last week.

Wasn't sure about the fluids, hence decided to change everything except the engine oil and oil filter. Got it done with Sanjay at Fmotors, Cochin for peace of mind and ultimate precision. Would recommend Fmotors to anyone looking for good care of their bikes.

Following were the jobs done

  • Cleaning air filter. It runs a BMC filter, so it was soaked, cleaned and re-inserted.
  • Cleaning the throttle bodies. Did not look terrible, but always good to see golden butterfly valves. Syncing is not required as per Honda.
  • Coolant flush and change to Engine Ice. Now the bike takes a little bit more time to heat up.
  • Fork oil change. Seals were not replaced. Front end felt a bit stiff initially, but has settled down considerably now.
  • Both front and rear brakes were bled and fluids were replaced with Liqui Moly RBF660.
  • Chain cleaned and lubed.

Though these changes made a minuscule difference to the ride, it was important for peace of mind and to keep it in good shape. Now at 38300kms, the next service is due at 42000 kms which is basically just an oil and oil filter change.
