Honda aims for zero motorcycle fatalities by 2050

Honda is aiming to achieve zero motorcycle fatalities involving its vehicles by 2050.

The company recently stated that being one of the largest manufacturers & sellers of motorcycles in the world, it has a social responsibility to eliminate motorcycle collision fatalities, especially in emerging countries.

In order to do this, the company plans to expand the range of safety technologies on offer. Since most motorcycle collisions involve automobiles, the company plans to introduce omnidirectional ADAS on all its new models in developed countries by 2030.

Also, using the R&D from its Level 3 automated driving technology development, Honda plans to enhance the intelligence of the ADAS, in turn increasing the percentage of collision patterns covered by the technology.

In addition to expanding the safety technology in automobiles, Honda is also strengthening research on other technologies which will enable both motorcycles and automobiles to safely co-exist. Honda is also introducing traffic safety education activities in emerging countries by focusing on infrastructure and government policies.
