Earlier this year, we had reported that Honda will re-introduce the Accord sedan in India in 2016 (click here to read report). According to media reports, the car will be displayed at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. It is expected to be launched later in the year.
In 2013, Honda pulled the Accord out of the Indian market due to poor sales. The car was available with a petrol engine only, customers wanting a diesel or hybrid vehicle had to look elsewhere. Additionally, the D2 sedan segment was shrinking.
The Accord is expected to be powered by a 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that puts out 183 BHP and 245 Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual and a CVT gearbox are expected to be available as transmission options. Honda could offer a hybrid version of the car later. This car has a 2.0-litre petrol engine that is linked to a 124 kW electric motor.
Some of the features on the Accord include automatic projector headlights, daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, an infotainment system with Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in connectivity, ABS, EBD and airbags among others.
The Accord will compete against the Skoda Superb and Toyota Camry.
