Ferrari to unveil special series 488 Pista at Geneva

Ferrari is gearing up to unveil the special series 488 Pista (Pista stands for 'track' in Italian) at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Earlier this year, a test mule of the car was spotted testing on a track.

The 488 Pista will be available in racing livery and features aerodynamic updates over the regular 488. At the front, these include a motorsport derived S-duct and diffusers with steeper angles based on the race-spec 488 GTE. The S-duct appears to make the front end look like a floating wing. The rear gets a revised spoiler. It is larger in size as well as placed higher than before. Ferrari claims an improvement of 20% in the generation of downforce compared to the 488 GTB. At 1,280 kg, the car also weighs 90 kg lesser than the 488 GTB.

Powering the 488 Pista is a 3,902 cc, twin turbocharged V8 petrol engine that puts out 711 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 770 Nm of torque @ 3,000 rpm. According to Ferrari, the car has a top speed of over 340 km/h and can do 0-100 km/h and 0-200 km/h sprints in 2.85 seconds and 7.6 seconds respectively.

Electronic aids include a new version of the side angle slip control, which gets E-Diff3 electronic differential, magnetic suspension, F1-Trac traction control system and Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer (FDE), which uses software to control brake pressure at the calipers.
