Delayed Skoda Rapid accident repair at ASC: Is it normal & acceptable

The advisor told me that he would have to order the parts & it would take around a week to fix my car but that didn't happen.

I met with a minor accident 3 weeks ago. A car crashed into my Skoda Rapid from behind damaging the rear bumper and the trunk. I took my car to the Skoda Service Center in Hyderabad on 14th Jun. An advisor inspected the car and told me that both the bumper and the trunk should be replaced but the parts are not available. He told me he'd place the order and call me after the parts arrived. He also mentioned that it would take around a week to fix everything (the frame around the trunk also got misaligned, preventing the lid from shutting).

I didn't get any response for a week so I called him on 22nd Jun. He told that the order had been placed and parts should arrive by positively 24th Jun or latest by 26th Jun. I've been waiting for an update ever since but never got any call from him so I called him today. He says that the parts arrived today morning. I feel the parts arrived earlier, and he simply did not care enough to inform me. Anyways, is this much delay acceptable? How long will it take for similar repairs to be completed in other Skoda service centres, or in the service centres of other automakers in general?

Here's what BHPian bijims had to say about the matter:

There may have been a delay in procuring the parts, or the service center simply is in no hurry to get the job done in time, most likely the former is likely to be the issue as a lot of parts of the Rapid and Vento have to be imported and it takes time.

Most of the time the parts of these cars are not readily available at the service centers and it takes time to arrive, and then only the repairs are done, so it would take a week or two at the maximum. But in the case of other manufacturers like Toyota, Suzuki, Hyundai, etc, the repairs would have been completed much earlier considering the easy availability of spares.

Here's what BHPian soarersc300 had to say about the matter:

This is definitely not normal. These are just body parts and are readily available. Even in case it was not available at Hyderabad the most it should have taken to get the parts is 2 or 3 days needed for shipping from Mumbai or any other location from where they get it shipped.

Bodywork and painting at the most can take one week which even your advisor has mentioned.

So anything over 10 days in total is not acceptable for the job work itself.

Also, did the work also involve insurance? Maybe the insurance company also contributed to the delay. Else the only other logical reason is the SA not doing the job efficiently with regard to parts procurement.
