China: Female buyers account for 26% of Ferrari sales

Ferrari has declined to specify the exact number of female buyers.

According to media reports, China is currently the first and only country where female car buyers account for a quarter of all new and pre-owned Ferrari supercar purchases.

The reports state that female buyers account for 26% of Ferrari's sales in China over the past five years (excluding Taiwan & Hong Kong). Having said that, Ferrari has declined to specify the exact number of female buyers. The report states that most of the women purchasing Ferrari supercars are tech industry executives, property entrepreneurs and the super-wealthy. China currently has the second largest number of billionaires in the world, behind only the USA, with most of them reportedly being self-made.

Reports stated that Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan accounted for 12% of Ferrari's total sales last year, which itself is 1,600 cars. This number is double that of what it was 5 years prior.

Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari, said, “In recent years we have seen growing enthusiasm from female clients for our products and experiences.” He added, “An increase in women signing up for company-sponsored events like race-car training has been pointing to the trend."
