All-new VW Tiguan spied undisguised

With the demand for SUVs on the rise, Volkswagen has been working on the addition of new models while revamping existing vehicles. The VW Tiguan has been due for a refresh, with its design looking considerably dated. Courtesy of a Carscoops reader, we now have a look at the all new version of the mid-sized SUV, which has been snapped completely undisguised.

Spotted during an advertising / marketing shoot, the SUV looks a lot more chiseled and gets sharper styling cues. The SUV looks a lot more upmarket and gets a healthy dose of chrome. The new Tiguan is expected to make its public debut at the Frankfurt motor show. The SUV is based on VW's MQB platform and will most likely be lighter than the current model. While the CrossBlue concept will underpin a larger SUV, the design inspiration from the Tiguan seems to have come from the CrossBlue Coupe concept.

Globally, the Tiguan will rival models like the Nissan Qashqai, Mazda CX-5 and Ford Escape. Powertrain options are likely to be sourced from the Golf. However, if brought to India, the Tiguan will stick to the diesel range only, with a 2.0L TDI plonked under the bonnet. Rivals here will include the Honda CR-V, Toyota Fortuner and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.

The SUV is expected to be offered in three variations worldwide, including a standard five seater, a five seater coupe, and a longer wheelbase seven seater. The seven seater may be the model chosen for India.
