2nd-gen Audi Q3 unveiled

Audi has unveiled the second-generation Q3. The new model is slightly larger in proportions and features new exterior styling and updated interiors. 

The new Audi Q3 is based on Volkswagen's modular transverse matrix architecture. It is 97 mm longer and 25 mm wider than its predecessor and measures 4,485 mm in length, 1,856 mm in width and 1,585 mm in height. The wheelbase has also grown by 77 mm to 2,680 mm. 

On the outside, the new Q3 features an octagonal grille with a silver frame and a trapezoidal air dam with triangular pods on either side. The grille is flanked by L-shaped LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs. Higher variants get Audi's Matrix LED headlights with adaptive high beam. It has flared wheel arches and silver trim around the windows, while the sloping roofline terminates into a roof spoiler. It has new LED tail lights and a dual-tone rear bumper.

The interior of the new Q3 is inspired by newer models in Audi's range. The dashboard has been redesigned and features a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment surrounded by silver trim. It is tilted towards the driver by 10-degrees. The car comes with a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and Audi's Virtual Cockpit featuring a 10.25/12.3-inch screen. The interiors come in three variants featuring sports seats and a combination of leather or artificial leather and Alcantara. 

The rear seats can be moved fore and aft by 150 mm. The seats can be tilted in seven stages and folded in 40:20:40 splits. Depending on the position of the rear seats and backrests, the Q3 offers 530-674 litres of storage space. With the backrests folded down, luggage capacity increases to 1,525 litres.

Features like 2-zone automatic climate control, auxiliary heating, heated steering wheel and panoramic sunroof are also available as options, while the ambient lighting package is available on one of the trims. Other features include Audi MMI navigation, Audi connect with Wi-Fi hotspot and a 680 watts Bang & Olufsen audio system with 15-speakers.

Globally, the second-generation Q3 will be offered with 3 petrol and one diesel engine options in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive layouts. All are 4-cylinder turbocharged engines featuring direct injection and power outputs range from 148 BHP to 227 BHP. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed automatic.

Some of the safety features offered on the new Q3 include hill descent control, adaptive speed assist, traffic jam assist, active lane assist, lane change warning, park assist, cross traffic assist, 360-degree camera and Audi pre sense front safety system.

The second-generation Audi Q3 will go on sale in European markets in November 2018.
